Waggy Whiffs is a newly founded business that specialise in crafting gorgeously scented candles for dog lovers.
I was commissioned on a freelance basis, to create an entire new identity for the start up business including logo, colour palette, typographic style of each scent and how this would apply to packaging for the candle products.
Process
As the candles were very much still in the development stage I was only provided with the names that the different scents would be - Popcorn Paws, Meditating Mutts, Waggy Walks, Crumpet Canine, Gorgeously Groomed, Puppy Love and Beach Barks.
With this in mind, I began to play around with typefaces and colour schemes for the individual scents. I produced a range of initial logo options to gather an idea of what style the client preferred.
Although they liked the range of designs presented, the client later specified that she wanted the identity to look a bit more simpler and classy, reminiscent to the likes of Neom Candles & other companies with minimal identities. From here, I reworked a second series of options including tweaking ones the client preferred to something more refined.
Outcome
After a second round of logo options an identity was finally selected. Working with the chosen logo I decided upon pairing this with a soft pastel colour palette, as I felt this added subtle hints of colour to the more neutral packaging, while not being too overpowering and removing the minimalistic essence. This allowed the scents to become more individual as stand alone products, differentiating from each other.
I later visualised how the final identity would work over packaging from candle jars to boxes.
