Hamiltons Leisure are a newly established sports and fitness group based within Tettenhall. Through a lifestyle and wellness hub that will be located within the local area, they aim to bring together the local community of Wolverhampton.

The hub itself will contain a fully equipped gym with state of the art equipment, a physiotherapy unit, yoga & wellness centre, including a bowling club, several large football pitches, and even its own café restaurant bar serving nutritious food.

Process

As the business itself was new, we were tasked with the brief of designing an entire brand identity for Hamiltons - from logo design, to apparel and on digital interfaces such as website and mobile.

Myself and another designer Mattie worked to develop a look and feel for the Hamiltons brand. This involved sharing various logo options to the client, showing how they could be applied across different mediums. They had a particular preference for the colour Navy Blue, so we had to make sure to work that into the designs in various shades.

After the logo was selected, the identity was then established and could be applied to designs for the website. I worked to design the website closely with our developer, designing the layouts for both desktop and mobile, making sure the brand was adhered to correctly into the development phase.

Outcome

The logo selected by the client was heavily influenced by the shapes of gym equipment - with the letter ‘H’ forming a signature symbol reflective of dumbell/barbell weights. The typography incorporated into the design was strong, clean, and modern with block capitals emphasising its strength & dominance. Deep navy blue paired with neutral white shades formed the colour palette to promote feelings of tranquility and stability.

A fully developed website was launched for both desktop and mobile (https://hamiltonsleisure.co.uk/) ready for the hub’s physical opening next year.
